Rest in Peace Zakir Hussein

Today as i just heard the news of teh passing of Ustad Zakir Hussein, I wanted to pay my tribute to Him. Rest In Peace our dear Zakir Hussein You have been my inspiration since 1988 when i first met you, and on that day I decided to learn the tabla as a lifelong instrument You can see the amazing concert here that i am still listening today with great joy 35 years later !! https://youtu.be/WdGfOYeF5uc?feature=shared&t=18 ) I had the chance to attend many of your concerts across teh world and was always so touch by your humility the time we spoke ( i just had one photos but many more memories) To the amazing tapes, CDs, videos i have listen almost every day of my life. 2023: Inner Joy tour across Switzerland patronaged by the Indian Embassy

Really enjoyed accompanying Mahuya Mukherjee - Hindustani classical music and Sanchita Banerjee - Odissi dance for 6 concerts across Switzerland during the summer 2023 for the "Inner Joy tour 2023". Such a great experience and joyful events. This tour was sponsored by Sahaja Yoga Switzerland and under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Switzerland for celebrating India's G20 Presidency and 75 years of india - Switzerland bilateral relations ! We had a great time including in Bern performing for his Excellency Mr Ambassador.

2013 : Nirmal Sangeet Sareeta Tour of China

What a dream to perform in 8 cities across China (from HK to Beijing) with my favorite indian music group. A very intense tour with concerts and even a TV show everyday. We performed for a total of 10000 people including 4000+ in a stadium in Shenzen... We were very well elvomed and the concert always finished with everybody's dancing and a 30 minutes long photo sessions... 1998 : PK Salve Academy Nagpur India

After completing my engineering studies, I fulfilled my promise to my tabla teacher and went to the PK. Salve International Art Academy based in Nagpur where my Guru Sandesh Popatkar was teaching. I stayed there for 6 months (July to December). With my teacher Sandesh Popatkar after a concert 1998 This was one of the most amazing moments of my life. A typical day was: early morning under witnessing beautiful Indian sun rise over teh jungle, relaxing meditation, breakfast with all the student, pratice at Arun Ate class, then class with my teacher always learning new compositions, lunch with student and practice session for all afternoon, jamming sessions in the evening, lot of chatting and fun with all the student, dinner and party and music again... so about 8 to 12 hours tabla a day - such a dream !!! 1992 - 1997 : The first concerts

As tabla is a fascinating instrument for western ears, I got very fast many opportunities to perform for the public. My first concerts were around Rouen accompanying my synthesizer class, playing with a classical and jazz young guitarist and then performing as the tabla player of the Sahaj Band formation. My first Concert Le Havre 1992 Sahaj Band was a Indian folk group based in Montpellier composed of members of the Sahaja Yoga Association. We played for all the south of France Indian festivals as well as performed many concerts initiating the French public to folk Indian and Quawwalis music. Concerts were always very joyful and interactive with many spontaneous dances and cheerings in our public.
